These days, it is the era of A.I. Can we create AI-generated images and videos of animals, humans, nature, etc., to upload on YouTube? For example, is it permissible to show a cat walking and talking like a human, or to portray rivers and mountains with human characteristics such as speech and movement in AI videos? Would this be considered as imitating or altering the characteristics of Allah’s creation?

اَلجَوَابْ بِاسْمِ مُلْہِمِ الصَّوَابْ

It should be noted that creating images, videos, or cartoons using AI is permissible, provided they do not include music, indecency, or any other elements prohibited in Shariah. If such content includes music, nudity, indecent scenes, or depictions of non-mahram individuals, then producing it is impermissible.

In light of this, if you create AI-generated images or videos that contain:

1. No music is used in the content.

2. No indecency, nudity, or images of non-mahram individuals are present.

3. No other Shariah-prohibited elements are involved.

4. There is no distortion or mockery of facial features or creation.

5.  Only artificial or imaginary voices are used.

then such digital creations are permissible in Shariah, and would not be considered as imitating or altering the characteristics of Allah’s creation, provided their purpose is based on a genuine religious or worldly need or benefit.

It should also be noted that this permission is limited to digital use only

— printing such creations in physical form is not permissible.

أما التلفزون و الفديو فلا شك في حرمة استعمالهما بالنظر إلى ما يشتملان عليه من المنكرات الكثيرة من الخلاعۃ والمجون ، والکشف عن النساء المتبرجات او العاریات ، و ما الی ذلک من اسباب الفسوق ،ولکن ھل یتاتی فیھما حکم التصویر بحیث اذا کان التلفزیون او الفیدیو خالیا من ھذہ المنکرات باسرھا ، ھل یحرم بالنظر الی کونہ تصویرا؟ فان لھذا العبد الضعیف ۔عفااللہ عنہ۔ فیہ وقفۃ : وذلک لان الصورۃ المحرمۃ ما کانت منقوشۃ او منحوتۃ بحیث یصبح لھا صفۃ الاستقرار علی شیء ،وھی الصورۃ التی کان الکفار یستعملونھا للعبادہ ،أما الصورة التي ليس لها ثبات و استقرار و ليست منقوشة على شيئ بصفة دائمة فانها بالظل اشبه منها بالصورة و يبدوا أنَّ صورة التلفزون و الفديو لا تستقر على شيئ في مرحلة من المراحل.
